My Type 2 Diabetes Story And What Has Helped Me Since Being Diagnosed 30 Years Ago

My Type 2 Diabetes Story And What Has Helped Me After Being Diagnosed

As today (14th November) is World Diabetes Day I would like to share my own type 2 diabetes story, my personal experience, and what has helped me in living with this chronic health condition.

I am a licensed FBO Forever Living Business owner which enables me to promote, recommend and make affiliate commission from any of the products purchased through my Forever Living online store. This affiliate income goes directly towards the running of this website, my business and allows me to continue to help others with better health and wellbeing. All products on this site are recommended by me, from my own personal experience. Individual results may differ from person to person.

How I Found Out – My Type 2 Diabetes Story

I was diagnosed 30 years ago, after wondering why I was tired, forgetful, and why I had an unquenchable thirst for water (which went on for months). I had gone off my food, with some meals and snacks making me feel especially sick. After a series of tests, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes – my initial reaction to which was complete shock and dismay!

I had a lot of questions going on in my head… How did I get diabetes? How would I manage? I felt that I was too young to have been diagnosed. I was referred to an endocrinologist who I felt had no interest other than prescribing medication. Long story short I changed to another endocrinologist who had a different approach, it was then that I really began to become educated about my own health and on coping with my newly revealed health condition.

I was linked to a nutritionist who had an interest in my health and made minor suggestions that I took on board. When I think back to all that time ago, I was blessed to have met very patient professionals that guided me. 30 years on I consider myself very healthy, I not only took on board the advice that I was given but also took responsibility for my health and wellbeing. This started me off on my journey to learning and being proactive about improving the way that I lived.

What Has Helped Me The Most Living With Type 2 Diabetes

Eating regular foods, getting exercise, avoiding alcohol and attending diabetic appointments are the key factors. Also, whilst looking to improve my nutrition I came across Forever Living Products, liked what I saw, and upon consultation with my doctor, I introduced the Aloe Vera Gel into my diet.

The following is a little about the products that I use. I want to impress upon you that these are my personal choices – for me Aloe Vera Gel has been a huge support for my health, both inside and out.

My Type 2 Diabetes Story – Looking Back

As I look back at my own health before I was diagnosed I now recognise just how much I had a lot going on in my life at the time – lots of stress plus being overweight mixed in with constantly grabbing food on the go – all of this wasn’t helping.

While coming to grips with and understanding my diagnosis, I have also learned to slow down and answer the questions whirling around in my head. It is so important to be mindful of one’s health both physical and mental, and today, 30 years after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I am grateful to be in a much better place.
